I am so excited to have my very first Guest Blogger! Today, Susi from DesignShuffle.com will be "in the guest chair," sharing with us a bit about aged leather. DesignShuffle is a fabulous social media site that promotes interior designers and their work from around the world. Susi's writing focuses on things she is passionate about: interior design, decorating ideas, home furnishings, gardening, travel and art. She gets to look at gorgeous things all day and write about them. She believes she is a very lucky girl (and I agree)!
I am excited to be guest blogging for Christa Rose this week. She mentioned an article about aged leather and I jumped at the chance. I love the rich patina of aged leather; the suppleness of the leather only increases with time. While new distressed leather furniture can give you the look of aged leather, there is just something about antique and vintage leather furniture that can't be duplicated. Here are some of my favorite examples of aged leather. Thanks for letting me visit Love.Inspire.Create this week and share our mutual love of aged leather.
One of my favorite types of aged leather ever is the aged leather bindings of vintage and antique books. A stack of these looks great whatever their titles may be.

Aged leather screams relaxed bohemian chic in on this leather loveseat. Aged brown leather will show age with dark and lighter areas.
A pair of Spanish style side chairs with worn, aged leather seats adds character to this white room. Aged leather may crack so be sure to condition it.
Antique leather club chairs are timeless classics. Look for leather that is in fairly good condition with no tears.

Vintage leather suitcases and trunks have fabulous patinas that hint at travel to faraway lands—just the thing when you're going for a global bedroom design. Love the rich warm color of aged leather luggage.

Aged leather works very well in lodge or Southwest inspired interiors. Paired with Navajo rugs, these club chairs and leather suitcase have a bygone Western feeling.
Antique shows and flea markets are great resources for vintage and antique leather chairs. Ebay, 1st Dibs and Craigslist are good online sources as well.
An aged leather chesterfield is the ultimate classic leather sofa. It can work in both traditional and contemporary interior designs. Plus aged leather is pet friendly.
