A Weekend Stroll in Rolling Greens

I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent my weekend browsing furniture shops, doing flowers for a fundraiser, and bronzing at the beach and frolicking in the waves. A pretty good weekend in my book! For the last few years I have been doing the centerpieces for the annual gala of a very special organization called, KidsKonnected. KidsKonnected is a non-profit organization that offers support and education to kids and teens who have parents battling cancer or have a parent that they lost to cancer. To read more about this amazing organization, please see here. This year the gala took place at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in Costa Mesa and as I was setting up for the event, a GORGEOUS store across the way caught my eye. The stunning store is called Rolling Greens and it is a wonderful mix of nursery, florist shop, Anthropologie and some of my favorite home stores. Needless to say, I was in heaven. Truly, I just walked around the store smiling at everything. The store just opened in Costa Mesa at the OC Mart Mix in September.  The large corner is surrounded by succulents and other plants for sale while the inside encompasses picturesque home & garden books, gourmet condiments housewares and gifts, wallpapers and "the arrangement bar," where workshops on terrariums and such are held. Again, I was in heaven. Absolute heaven. It was as if all my favorite stores got together and had a design superhero baby/store. When I got home I "Googled" the store I read their history and fell in love even more. The company got started in the 1970's when the owners put a nursery on wheels - driving from San Diego to Los Angeles with a van full of fresh local plants and gardening supplies to sell. They eventually opened two locations in Los Angeles - one in Culver City and one in Hollywood. Looks like I am headed to Los Angeles!
