I've always been enthralled with the exotic beauty and detail found in nature. Several years ago, I learned about Ablertus Seba's book, Cabinet of Natural Curiosities. and was thrilled to know such a book existed. Although the book would be interesting enough on a coffee table, it has so much potential for decorating your home or office. New York decorator, Steven Gambrel took the pages of this book and covered the walls of a powder room (above). I think I might like the powder room better if the pages were copied in black and white or sepia tone to create a less busy design. Nonetheless, I think these natural curiosities are well suited for the small powder room. If you agree and think that it's too busy, you could frame a few of your favorite pages and hang them on the wall. If you've never seen or heard of this 18th Century"pictionary" of nature, I highly suggest you get yourself a copy. Be aware that collector's editions will cost you $600+ but you can get a reproduction from TASCHEN for $40.00.
